BLOP: River’s Edge

Granted, I never saw, River’s Edge–a little gem of a 80’s flick–when I was a kid back IN the 80’s, but MAN! If I had, I would have made myself Crispin HELLION Glover‘s attache years ago.

Here’s a film that was terrible–TERRIBLE–but must have had such a great time behind the scenes. Can you imagine the DoomsdayGen sandwich Keanu and Crispin would make? I can. I’m imagining it right now. It’s Hansel, honey: so hot.

“The complexities of adult life get in the way of the truth. The great philosophers have always been able to clear away the complexities and see simple distinctions – simple once they are stated, vastly difficult before. If we are to follow them we too must be childishly simple in our questions – and maturely wise in our replies.”

BLOP: Labyrinth

Got a BLOP (BLast frOm the Past) for those of us born in the 80’s: David Bowie & Jennifer Connelly in Labyrinth.

Faeries, eyeball moss, talking EVERYTHING (caterpillars, walls, hands, door knockers), biting monsters on a stick–endless fascinations for an 6-year old brain! And I don’t even know what to say about the basketball team of detachable fraggle parts. WTF?

– Was this your first conscious attraction to an adult male or a pretty girl?

– Did the Bog of Eternal Stench remind you of your dog’s butthole? Thoughts?

– Did you ever get those shoes? I have both! Jennifer’s loafers and David’s boots–are you jealous?

This was one of my favorites as a child. Right there next to Legend, which was clearly a bit scarier for me at the time. That Jim Henson–he really made a lasting impact, and I fear that may be why I [sadly] dance like a Fraggle to this day. No links to that yet. Hopefully never.
